As said in reports on the recent influenza cases the isolated pathogen was a type influenza A virus of sub-type H1N1.
This virus has similarities to the influenza viruses to be found in pigs. Further analysis showed however that this is a new pathogen which has never before been detected in pigs.
The virus genome presents part of the genetic information of influenza viruses of type A in pigs, in humans as well as in birds. The pathogens can be transferred from human to human. The influenza A virus is a coated virus. Relevant authorities (e.g. Friedrich-Löffler-Institute) are not referring to a higher resistance of this influenza type against chemical disinfectants. The disinfectants used in Germany classified as "limited virucidal" should therefore actually suffice for an effective disinfection. However one has to keep in mind that so far no definitive statement in regards to the resistibility of the "newly" found mutated virus has been made.
In order to avoid any insecurity based on the afore mentioned fact a fully virucidal product -Manorapid Synergy- should be used for hand hygiene/disinfection. Manorapid Synergy fulfils this higher safety requirement.
